We had him in another daycare/preschool location in Troy that was close to our house. He would cry everyday at drop off. We decided it was time to switch and a co-worker told my husband about her great experience with Discovery Corner so we checked them out. It was a completely different experience! My son stopped crying every morning and he was thriving. He started in the second half of the year in the pre-k program with Ms. Connie and she was wonderful with him. He is now in the Kindergarten program with Ms. Richele and doing amazing. Ms. Richele and Ms. Loretta have totally prepared him for school in the Fall. We drive completely out of the way to get to DCA and it’s absolutely worth it. Any time someone asks for a recommendation for a daycare/school program, I always recommend Discovery Corner. My only regret is that we didn’t find them sooner!

I believe that good staff comes from the top, and Loretta is phenomenal. When I first met her, I thought that “she can’t be real” no one is that good with kids. I was completely wrong! Loretta is what I call “magical” in our house. The way that DCA is ran is exceptional, the hours are what working parents need and it is not at a cost to our children. I could take my daughter in early to get to that morning meeting, and pick her up at the same time. All of us working parents have been there before, and the guilt is tremendous. That is until you pick up at DCA! When you pick up and your kids don’t want to leave, yes it is a hard pill to swallow, but it is also an amazing feeling! Our family only has one regret that is that we had found DCA earlier so that our older son could have attended. He attended summer camp and some holidays and snow days at DCA and loved it. If you are looking for something that is in the Troy/Birmingham/Bloomfield area, DCA is the place you should be!0

Loretta, the director, is phenomenal with children and she selected an equally skilled staff. It’s never easy leaving your child in the care of someone else but at DCA I never had any worries. Any time by daughter had a hard time at drop off Loretta or Miss Erika were right there to give her a hug and make sure she felt comforted.
On the academic side, my daughter was beyond ready for Kindergarten. The curriculum is a good mixture of learning through play and workbooks. Plenty of time to rest, play and learn!! I would highly recommend DCA to anyone looking for a school and/or daycare!!!0

Ms. Loretta and her staff are very warm and caring. My son was enrolled at a different program for a few months and we were so disappointed that the teachers were just babysitters. At Discovery, the teachers take personal interest in the growth and development of your child. Thanks to Ms. Connie my son has learnt to play chess. They have a good mix of academics, play and learning activities. My son was so excited about all the fun summer events. Their schedule is flexible and they are open all year round which is great for working parents. I highly recommend Discovery to anyone looking for childcare. We know families that went here more than 10 years ago and have nothing but good things to say about their experiences. Thank you Ladies for all the love, warmth and affection.

My five year-old daughter is also now attending DCA; and has had the very same teachers as her older sister did almost a decade ago! In other words, we love it here… and clearly so does the staff! The Director Ms. Loretta, along with the teachers are truly like family. We are forever grateful for the loving care they have shown our girls, and for the top-notch early childhood education our children have received throughout the years!

The director, Loretta, is the most caring and understanding person. The staff are phenomenal and really understand how to reach young children! They offer flexible scheduling which made it VERY convenient for our hectic schedules. My son developed so many friendships as well as a love of school at this center!! I would HIGHLY recommend this center. One of the best I’ve ever seen!

We looked everywhere around Royal Oak, Birmingham and Troy, MI and Discovery Corner Academy was the best place we could have chosen, larger in space than all of the other many preschools we looked at, always clean, and the set up is very well planned. The teachers are amazing and very caring to our child and the school Director is the best, on top of everything and has a great spirit. We love the way they are organized to do different learning activities through out the day and the week, different rooms for music, exercise, reading, learning and crafts. DCA has lots of space, big rooms and spaces to play. Lots of natural light and a playground with many cool stuff to play outside. There are activities such as “Bring your bike to school” day, ice cream day, fire department visit, summer picnic, etc! I love to see my kid excited everyday for going to school and not wanting to leave at the end of the day because that means she loves and really enjoys her school.

My family couldn’t be more pleased with this preschool. My 2.5 year old daughter loves her school and her classmates. The director Loretta is not only a saint but an obvious “toddler whisperer”. They have a full preschool curriculum, but also offer the convenience of long hours (6:45am-6pm). They are rarely ever closed, only for a few holidays and never on snow days. We recommend DCA to everyone with preschool age children in the area.

You will love them!! My oldest is just turning 14 and is a straight A student in middle school. She went to Discovery Corner from the time she was 3 all the way through kindergarten.
Their reading program in pre-k and kindergarten cannot be matched. I found (after attending other day care programs before I found DC) that there were fewer discipline problems there because they change activities every 30 minutes.
And you will find that the teachers become your family. Ms. Connie and Ms. Richele are still talked about by my kids.

Given what a positive experience we had with DC with our first child, when our next 2 came along it was a no brainer decision for us to send them to DC. Alexis went through Kindergarten and Eric went through pre-k.
Eric who is now in kindergarten, is reading at a 3rd grade reading level and Alexis is reading at a 7th grade level. And to top it off, Eric is doing math problems that I find amazing knowing his sum facts all the way through 8+81.
In kindergarten, they are still teaching him to count and learn his alphabet.

I miss not seeing our DC family but we still make use of them during snow days and over the summer. Even when other centers close, DC will be open. If you pick a day care in Troy, if Troy schools close, so does the day care. That is not a problem you will encounter with them. And they will also take your older kids when schools close which is a big weight off your mind.
